Device Certification involves a set of tests demonstrating that a device operates properly when connected to a wireless network.  It is very important that all devices are tested and approved before commercial use on the various wireless carriers due to the rapidly evolving market.

There are several issues that can arise from non-approved devices, and many users of such devices find that their systems can stop working from one day to the next. 

Manley Solutions can help you during this process through our formal relationships with OEM's, Operators and even Test Houses. As a full member of the PCS Type Certification Review Board (PTCRB), we have firsthand knowledge of these often complex processes.

Certification needs generally fall into three areas:
  • FCC Part 15
  • PTCRB (PCS Type Certification Review Board)
  • Operator Level - AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, Rogers, TelCel

Device Certification is required for new modules and devices, as well as whenever changes are made to an approved module or device. The actual time and cost required to complete certification will vary depending upon the specific approval requirements.

'Always use a Pre-Approved Device unless there is a compelling reason to build a new one.'

The fastest and often the most cost-effective Device Certification strategy is not to have to go through the process at all.

Device Certification Benefits

M2M Modules and End Devices are used in applications where the expected life cycle is considerably longer than that of a handset or PDA.  Once a Device is installed, it is expensive and time-consuming to replace or service.
